Too Loud

From Junie

The noise is getting tall. It climbs up my arms.

I hum my hum. Mmmm, mmmm. My hum is a little wall. It keeps some of the noise out.

From Junie and the Quiet Clap.

When it is too loud, it is okay to cover your ears, put on a hat or headphones, hum, or ask a grown-up to help you find a quieter spot.

Junie wears her soft gray knit ear hat with long flaps that cover her ears.

Count the seven stairs

You can count out loud, in a whisper, or just in your head.

  1. Cover your ears, or put on something soft that hugs them.
  2. Count slowly with me. One, two, three.
  3. Four, five, six.
  4. Seven. Always seven.
  5. If it is still too loud, show a grown-up this page. You can go to a quiet spot.

Go as slow as you like. There is no timer. You can stop any time.
